The Domaine Borie de Maurel is run by Sylvie and Michel Escande. It is located in Félines in the Minervois. They became winegrowers late in life… Michel Escande, sailboat lover, let go of his passion in 1989 to go home with his wife.
The Domaine Borie de Maurel is now a 35 hectares vineyard but everything stayed like it was at the beginning : all the work is done manually, from the ploughing to the harvest, which usually happens 15 days after the harvest at other domains to have ripe fruits.
One of the particularity of the terroir of Borie de Maurel, is the diversity of the soils. It is a geological shambles !
To express its terroir, it is respecting the balance with the nature, and the vineyard is run in organic farming. No dangerous fertiliser and insecticide are used, the vines are enriched with the droppings of the two horses of the domain: Luna and Ninon, which have been learning since 2005 how to plough.
