The rum Botran : a family story

True pioneer in the sector, the Botran family is associated to the development of the rum production in Guatemala. Their story, their tradition and their « savoir-faire » enable them to be one of the leaders on the Guatemalan market for more than 50 years now.

The influence of climate and men

The Botran family only uses particular varieties of sugarcane. The characteristics of the climate and the chais located at more than 2400 m of altitude give the rum a high sugar content. The sugarcane cutting and the honey extraction are done manually to guarantee the quality of this sugarcane concentrate. Furthermore, it gives typicity and an aromatic complexity to Botran rums.

The ageing in Solera of the rum Botran

The chais are located in Quetzaltenango, the second biggest city in the country. The ageing is done in a solera, a stockage system of the casks by piling them up. The casks used are sherry casks and port wine casks. This blend gives the Botran rum a unique and inimitable style.
