The wines of the Domaine Alain Chabanon –  Saut de Côte, Les Boissières, Petit Trélans, Esprit de Font Caude, Trélans

The Domaine Alain Chabanon is a 16 hectares domain separated between 5 villages :  Jonquières, St André de Sangonis, Lagamas, Saint Saturnin, and of course Montpeyroux.

Alain Chabanon is running this vineyard made of several terroirs which allows the vineyard to benefit from different microclimate and different types of soils. This brings complexity to the wines.

Arid and gravelly soil in the Larzac, with fresh winters and hot summers, mild autumn and spring. One of the particularity of this climate is the hot summers and the fresh wind. This Tramontane wine acts as a shield against grape diseases, so the use of chemical treatments are greatly reduced. The Domaine Alain Chabanon is certified organic for 8 years now.

Alain doesn’t use compost because he believes the vines need to draw its nutriments from its soil. He also believes the quality of the wines is important. That is why the domain is working with the biodynamic methods since 2008, by paying a particular attention to the lunar calendar and using herbal tea on the vines to strengthen them.

Wine with a great ageing potential !
